Security Document Q&A

Q. When should I visit southwest.com for a Security Document vs. the airport for a Boarding Pass?
A. For Revenue Customers - While available for all Customers, a Security document is best suited for Customers who prefer going directly through the Security Checkpoint to their Departure Gate or concourse E-Ticket Check-In kiosk (where available) to check in and receive their Boarding Pass. A Customer may obtain their Boarding Pass at several locations prior to the security checkpoint, including the Skycap Counter, the Ticket Counter and E-Ticket Check-In kiosks (where available).

Q. With the addition of the Security Document, will there be changes to the Boarding Group allocation?
A. No - Boarding Passes will continue to be issued on a first come - first served basis.

Q. With this change in procedure, how will I accompany or greet my children ages five (5) through eleven (11) at the gate ?
A. People needing to go through the security checkpoint who are not traveling, such as to those with Unaccompanied Minors, will continue to go to the Ticket Counter to receive an Escort Pass.

Q. I am flying standby - what do I do?
A. You will need to check in at the Ticket Counter to receive a Security Document.

Q. What happens when I attempt to print a Security Document on southwest.com and the website is unable to process my request?
A. There are a variety of reasons why a document may not print. You will need to go to the airport as instructed. When you arrive at the airport one of our friendly Customer Service Agents will be able to assist you.
